Welcome to The Nest!
The Nest provides a safe and supportive teaching environment centred primarily around catering for the social, emotional and mental health of children as individuals. Emotional literacy, language development and communication skills are at the forefront of our learning ethos, as is removing barriers to allow for the growth and development of learning skills. We follow the 6 principles of Nurture to ensure children have their individual needs met and we pride ourselves in the provision of an immersive ‘home away from home’ environment with staff modelling positive relationships underpinned by accepting attitudes.
A typical day in The Nest starts with a calm welcome activity to aid transition into the classroom. Sensory circuits follow; to wake up, organise and calm our brains ready for the day. Academic lessons are mixed with movement breaks including swimming and Forest School with the aim of children learning without even realising it!
