Welcome to Edith Weston Academy!
At Edith Weston Academy we provide an all round education, offering opportunities for children to develop academic, social, sporting and creative skills in a caring and supportive environment.
Our school has an idyllic setting, located on the edge of Rutland Water and we use the local environment as much as possible to enrich the teaching and learning throughout our school. Our building is large and boasts a large hall and indoor swimming pool as well as an area designated for Forest Schools' activities and a substantial playing field for sports.
In September 2013 we embarked on a federation with Brooke Hill Academy in Oakham. This successful collaboration has enabled us to offer a richer curriculum and more opportunities for pupils including shared resources, a comprehensive gifted and talented programme, a broad extra- curricular activity timetable and staff expertise across both schools.
On 31st December 2015 we converted to academy status and are now known as Edith Weston Academy. Following our conversion, we joined the Brooke Hill Multi Academy Trust.
Since joining Brooke Hill Academy Trust we have gone from strength to strength, enjoying success both in and outside of the classroom. In addition to achieving results that significantly exceeded the national average in the last two years, we have also seen vast improvements in extra-curricular activities; we have gained a Gold Mark award for our sporting achievements, performed in a number of arts projects within the county including the Spotlight Dance, as well as the students producing their own book! The federation has also enabled our students to embark upon joint projects with students at Brooke Hill Academy, allowing us to share ideas and resources.
Our School Vision and Values were developed by the whole school community and represent the beliefs we hold.
At Edith Weston Academy we provide a stimulating and caring environment where children can shine. Our School is child- centred and inclusive and we celebrate cultural diversity. Everyone is valued.
We are also proud of our work with a number of projects within the local community. We work closely with the Osprey Project at Rutland Water, as well as collaborating with local secondary schools to enhance our children’s learning experience.
We offer a breakfast club and after school club facility for our children and have recently opened our Little Ospreys Nursery for 2-3yr olds.
